Every business needs a website and, in theory, it can allow people from all around the world to discover your products and services and become clients.
However, putting up an attractive and informative website is only the tip of the iceberg. And with global reach comes global competition.
To attract more clients, your website has to be found by your target audience and it has to provide information that will ultimately address their needs and convince them that your company is the one they should choose to work with. So you have to step up your game and find ways to ensure that your website is informative, visible, accessible, and engaging.
In this article, I’m going to highlight three things you can do to help you win more customers from your website. These are all points which I discussed during the podcast interview I did with the International Association of Bookkeepers last year. If you want to know more about any of the points in this article then you can listen to the interview here.
1. Make use of Google Ads
Google Ads is a proven method for increasing traffic to your website. Google Ads is an online ad platform that allows you to display advertisements for your business at the top of the Google search results. Done correctly, this is a highly effective way to promote your business and get new clients because you are only showing your ads to people who are actively searching for your products and services right now.

2. Make it easy for website visitors to see your value proposition
Driving traffic to your website is just the first part of the strategy. Creating the appropriate design, layout, and copy that communicates your value proposition will make all the difference.
Once potential customers visit your website, they should be able to see right away the value that your company promises to deliver should they choose to use your services.
People who visit your website will typically have three questions in their mind: Where am I? What can I do here? Why should I stick around and do it? For a higher chance of turning your website visitors into customers, these questions must be answered within just a few seconds of them landing on your website. And that’s where a good value proposition will help.
To get more business from your website, every landing page should tell your website visitors about your business in a concise yet effective manner. When used correctly, the visual elements and written copy on your website create a powerful call to action. Make sure that these components of your website show visitors how your services can provide a simple and effective solution to their current needs.
By making your website as persuasive as can be, you’ll encourage more of your visitors to take your desired action, whether that’s to make an online enquiry, purchase something, or book your services.
3. Build a relationship with your website visitors
Your website stats are more than just numbers. Behind those clicks and views are real customers who have specific needs. So, go beyond just driving traffic to your site and start building a meaningful relationship with your website visitors.

One way to do this is to offer them something useful in the form of a lead magnet. This involves asking for their email details and giving them something of value once they subscribe to your mailing list. Then, through the use of follow-up email sequences, you can start to turn these cold leads into warm leads. This will give you a higher chance of getting new customers from your website.
